World Soil Health Day Celebrations on 9th and 12th Dec 2015

1. Raybag, Belagavi district  Driven by MK SHGs, IDF organized world soil health day in two villages on 09th and 12th Dec 2015 in Raybag Taluk under MKSP program. Together, 132 mahila kisans participated where ATMA taluk coordinator from DoA participated as a Resource Person. Improving soil fertility through improving organic carbon and its importance in water management and combating drought conditions were the focus of interaction with the farming community. IDF awarded the Best Performing NGO by NABARD for the 4th consecutive year

Our organisation IDF has been awarded the best performing NGO for SHG/JLG linkage for FY 2013-14 and FY 2014-15 by NABARD. IDF has won this award for the 4th consecutive year. The award was presented on 2nd March 2016 at NABARD regional office. Special thanks to SBI, KVGB and DDM NABARD for all the support extend along with Vattikuti Foundation, teams of Kunigal, Gubbi and Rayabag.

KSRLPS Mission Director visit, Gubbi

Sri D. V Swamy, IAS , Mission Director, KSRLPS visited one of the IDF’s MKSP project area Gubbi on 15th Mar 2014. He interacted with the SHG and JLG members of Hodalur village followed by a visit to an organic farm owned by Sri Shivkumar and interaction on the sustainable farming methods adapted by the farmer. Later he took part in the Sujeevana Federation Board of Trustee meeting at the MKSP Gubbi office as an invitee and observed the proceedings. He also visited the seed bank at the office.

Since the inception of MKSP project at Raybag in Nov 2013, the IDF Team in Raybag has been involved in a number of activities that include MKSP goal-setting, identifying CRP’s, conducting family survey, street plays and educating the rural community on the formation of SHG’s. In continuation to its ongoing activities, this workshop was conducted to provide information regarding (1) Introduction on SHG formation. MKSP street plays in Raybag Taluk, Belgaum

To create effective awareness on ‘Mahila Kisan Sashaktikaran Pariyojana’ among rural people, IDF has completed 20 street play shows in 20 villages at Raybag Taluk of Belgaum district between 26th Feb 2014 to 05th Mar 2014  . More than 7000-8000 people participated as audience. The audience consisted of the entire rural community including men and women farmers, community resource persons and children.  The topics covered were SHG concepts, women empowerment, livelihood activities for women, Farm Field School (FFS) concept, value addition and marketing activities that can be undertaken through local resources. Sujeevana Varshika Sammilana (SuVaSa), an annual event organised by IDF Sujeevana federation, Gubbi is a community led celebration of achievements under Sujeevana. Over 3500 farmers and women participated in the event. It witnessed traditional procession followed by address from MLA S.R Srinivas. Prema, Nadoja Narayana Reddy. Representatives from SBI-Bangalore, Govt. Departments, NABARD and IDF Federation guided the event. An exhibition on innovative farming initiatives adopted by the farmers under the program was the attraction for the community.

Sujeevana Varshika Sammilana (SuVaSa), an annual event organised by IDF Sujeevana federation, Kunigal is a community led celebration of achievements under Sujeevana. Around 4000 members from Kunigal Taluk graced the 4th annual meet held in Kunigal. The event witnessed traditional procession followed by address from Sri Sri Sri Shivkumar Natha Swamiji of Kalpataru Ashrama. Representatives from Vattikutti India Relief Foundation, SBI-Bangalore, Govt. Departments, NABARD and IDF federation guided the event. The federation organized an exhibition on innovative farming initiatives adopted by the farmers under the program.

Health Camp – Challakere

General health camp was organized by IDF in Devaramarikunte village of Challakere taluk under NABARD supported Tribal Development Project. Sri. Basaveshwara Medical College of Sri Jagadguru Murugharajendra Vidyapeetha Trust, Chitradurga joined the field team with 30 medical professionals for consultancy and health check-up for the members of the rural community. Nearly 1000 poor men, women and children availed the services of the camp.

Best NGO Award for IDF for SHG-Bank Linkage

IDF has been awarded by NABARD for the best performance under SHG- Bank linkage and Farmers’ Club programme for the year 2010-11 in Karnataka. This is the third time NABARD has recognised IDF for SHG Bank linkage. Awards are for celebrating crossing of significant milestones in a long journey towards the achievement of the vision of IDF.
